Verse of the Day

Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, LORD, do I seek.” Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! — Psalm 27:7-9a (ESV)

For many a place of solitude is where we run to escape the trials of our lives.
But what if there was no escaping the trouble that we find ourselves in? What if it is so overwhelming that it destroys everything that we know as normal? Where do we go, where do we run to escape?

It was pride that led Israel to reject God and demand their own king. And it was pride that led David to have Uriah killed so that he could cover his sin with Bathsheba. The list goes on and on.
Isaiah 14:1-23.

The Hope of God

We can place our hope in people, and they will fail us. We can place our hope in the world, and it will destroy us. We can place our hope in ourselves, and our hearts will deceive us. Our only hope is in Christ and in the kingdom to come.
Isaiah 10:16-11:16
